Some Thoughts on Coronavirus
We have all heard the US President state that the coronavirus will just go away. That eventually he will be right.
I would suggest that history tells us he is wrong.
The common cold is a coronavirus. Most if not all or us have multiple colds in our lifetimes. Will the cycle of coronavirus be similar to the common cold? Will we be able to have COVID-19 once and be immune for a lifetime? Maybe. How long will the vaccine work? How often will we need to be given a shot? Yearly? Every Six months?
The flu is caused by influenza viruses. Each year many of us get a flu shot which is predictive of the strains of flu which will are likely to occur each year. There is no guarantee that the shot will create antibodies effective against the strain of flu which follows. It is a precaution which may or may not help. Will the life of the coronavirus be similar to the flu?
These questions are all valid with answers which as of yet are unknown.
What is known that the virus which causes COVID-19 is now out there. While we may succeed in creating a vaccine and treatments, we most likely will rid ourselves of the virus. It will be out there mutating, ensuring it’s survival for a long time.
Hopefully Tyrannical Trump is correct?
His continued missteps are documented on this blog and in the following story (see https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2020/08/trump-coronavirus-deaths-timeline.html). He tries to deflect his missteps by calling this the China virus or the Kung Flu or in January the democratic hoax.
Because of this track record the true name is more fittingly the Trump virus. He has done little to slow its spread. Indeed his actions have pushed it progress throughout the US. His words and actions are the fertilizer which helps it thrive.
I personally hope he is right and that it just goes away. But my mind and heart don’t agree.
Either way…
I want a president who is proactive in planning for the next pandemic and not one who blames others for his misdeeds.
