Another Day Home Alone…
Do the COVID days all seem the same? One right after the other, with little or no movement. And yet we now have a light at the end of the tunnel in the form of a vaccine, actually several vaccines. A new normal may be close upon us.
What will the new normal look like?
I believe masks will be part of our foreseeable future. They just make sense. A mask will always protect our neighbors from airborne disease. If we have a cough or sniffle we should wear a mask.
What changes will occur to the work place. Hopefully gone are the days where marginally ill employees are encouraged to work. Paid sick leave must be available for all. Converting part time employees to full time with benefits is a key portion to this. The biggest obstacle to this is health care. Some form of universal health care system is requirement.
Benefits of universal health care are numerous.
The benefits include more people working full time paying jobs. Universal health care improves the family. It will encourage parents to work fewer jobs providing more time for their children. Universal health care will strengthen the family.
The biggest obstacle to build generational wealth is health care. At some point most Americans need extended access to medical facilities. This access is expensive and takes funds away for future generations. Limited finances are not passed on to future generations.
With more available money everyone will spend more, adding money to the economy. There are both direct and indirect benefits to this spending, but will translate into more jobs.
Why is the United States the only developed country without Universal Health Care.
We are supposed to be the best country in the world, yet our health care system is far from the most inclusive. This is an instance where our capitalism fails us.
The purpose of the constitution is to form a more perfect union. It is not to support capitalism. We already support socialism in many forms. Our public school system, fire and police departments, prison systems and post office are all forms of socialism. All are driven for the common good. While the institutions are not perfect, we benefit from the proper execution.
Yes. there is room for improvement, by in these instances capitalism is not the answer. Just as the answer for health care is not the current system, but some form of universal health care. Improved health benefits us all.
