Republicans want to go back to the good ole days. Democrats advocate building a better future. Remembering the good ole days is important, but only through clear glasses which also see the imperfections.
Dr Martin Luther King was about change.
One of my bosses quoted; “Change is inevitable, people are allergic to change.” Our founding fathers wrote “all people are created equal” in our Declaration of Independence. We must include everyone in “all people” to live up to this high ideal. Any talk about critical race theory rewriting history and getting back to our historic roots is mean spirited and unjust.
The hiring practices of our major sports leagues demonstrate that minorities are not treated fairly. We have a racist present as well as a past. Limiting discussion about the roots of racism is not a solution, it is a codification of our history into the present and future.
But of course that is the desire of the current Republican base.
For the First Time.
DeeDee not only joined my on the couch. She came up onto my chest and looked me in the eye as if to say your my human now.
I never considered DeeDee my cat, but myself as her human. It worked better that way.
That day on the couch cemented a bond which last’s to this day. DeeDee helped my through my darkest hours.
Forgive me in advance for this post. I started it several weeks ago and overtime the objective has changed. It […]
I had started noticing that when I first started the machine at night the air was stuffy. While initial recommendations were that I should continue using my machine I decided caution was the best course and stopped.
My first concern was why was the machine recalled? This was not a simple question to answer and took several weeks to put together the following is what I discovered:
- In order to quiet the motor, Phillips had covered the motor with a foam pad.
- Overtime this pad would dry out.
- This drying process was quickened by using an automated cleaning system such as SoClean, which I used daily.
- Eventual small foam particles would enter into the air pathways leading to my mask.
- Hence, I was breathing little foam particles.
Forgive this old man for not getting directly to the point. I want to ramble a little bit.
I’m a basketball fan. More specifically a Memphis Grizzlies fan who grew up in New England following the Red Auerbach and Bill Russell Celtics. Bill Russell may have never been the best basketball player who ever lived, but I would suggest he was the best team player who ever lived, including Lebron James and Michael Jordan. He was all about the win and making his teammates better.
I start with this because the concept I am about to discuss comes from Bill Russell.
I chose to wear a mask. While I would prefer to not be militant about my choice, I do believe that anyone without a mask should respect my choice and stay away! That is the only way I’ll respect your choice to not wear a mask.
It is time to reject socialism and liberal as dirty words for our economy. It is time to recognize that many Republicans no longer believe that “all men our created equal” and that our democracy is under attack.
The true dirty words are autocracy and in many cases capitalism.

The wealthy have many advantages not available to those less fortunate. They always will. Taxation should not be one of those advantages. The tax system needs to change and those with the most need to pay more.
