Why did I wait so long?
This summer I began getting a pedicure. My reasons to start began with an inability to position nail clippers to properly cut my toe nails. In retrospect my vanity got in the way of good health. I’m a man who thought it was unmanly to get a pedicure.
Boy, was I wrong!
The Struggles With the Toes…
I tried cutting my toe nails more often. My body just would let me get a proper position to cut my toe nails. The result was jagged edges, which would often would catch on the bed sheets. The first reaction was to use a finger nail on the offending toe. Yes, the result was often the toe nail won and my finger nail became torn.
With some trepidation, I scheduled my 1st pedicure…
First Pedicure…
The first thing I about a pedicure, is I learned it is a moment of luxury. A big chair with my feet resting in a warm bin of water. I won’t describe the pedicure. For about 30 minutes my feet are treated with loving care.
Each toe nail was cut and the cuticles properly trimmed and treated. Callous’ were gentled rubbed off, my lower legs and feet massaged. My job was to sit back, relax and enjoy.
The whole process sets me up to take on the world with more vigor.
The second pedicure was this summer with my brother-in-law.
We spent the time discussing why with both of us expressing a need for help trimming our toe nails. I am a changed man. Monthly pedicures are now on my to do list.
Today, I decided to take the next step.
I added a manicure…
No, I did not get my nails painted. The manicurist treated my hand with as much care as my feet. I was pampered. You know, why should women have all the perks. Yes, women deserve the royal treatment both at home and at the spa. This special treatment is also for men. It is not unmanly to admit that desire.
While I was the only man in the spa at the time of my pedicure and manicure. I left feeling refreshed and ready to get back to work.
What took me so long…
a false sense of pride.
