What a choice?
Yes, it is choice, but who should you listen too? Politicians or your Doctor?
This is a health issue. Is there really any decision to make? Of course I would listen to my Doctor. There are people who can not take the vaccine because of allergies. I understand their plight and hope a solution is found soon. We need to credit Operation Warp Speed for the environment created which allowed us to have a vaccine this soon.
As you can see from my recent blog entries, I have in the late spring used my new found freedom and travelled the United States. But I was also careful. I wore a mask while inside, except when eating. It was a great experience which I have documented for myself, family and friends. Several bucket list items were checked off.
Are the anti-maskers getting vaccinated?
I would suggest, I have no proof, the the anti-maskers are also the same people who are not getting vaccinated. This is a recipe for catastrophe. My reasoning anti-maskers question the scientists. They applaud our politicians who block efforts to slow the spread. Our governor in Florida is a prime example of said politicians.
Ron DeSantis has used his gut to navigate this pandemic. He resisted at all times any attempts which would hurt his state’s ability to be a tourist center. The health of his community was not his first priority, throughout this pandemic, Ron DeSantis has place a higher priority on his states economy then the health of the workers in his state. His recent attacks and fundraising at the expense of Dr. Fauci is an example.
As a parent.
When my wife was pregnant, I was often asked whether I wanted a boy or a girl. My answer was always that I wanted a healthy baby. My son is now grown. More than anything I want health and happiness for him. Since he became a teenager, I have seldom given him advice which was not sought. I hope I taught him to stand on his own and that he will be successful in whatever he chooses.
He is now a grown man. Health and happiness for my son are my only goals. My son now often consults me when he has a choice to make. We discuss options, but I try not to overstep my role as an advisor. In the end I hope he understands that the final decision is his and his alone.
I’m proud of my son. He also got vaccinated, his choice not mine.
When did the show become more important then truth?
I’ve asked this question before. http://nobodyretires.com/index.php/2019/07/25/mueller-and-congress/ In that case the discussion centered on the difference between the Republican and Democratic questioning of Robert Mueller.
Then as now I chose to lean toward fact and do not want to be swayed by the show and flare.
Just because you get the virus, does it mean you will die? Of course not. Most people recover from coronavirus, as we learn more about the disease most likely recovery rates will continue to improve. But how many people will have lasting symptoms as they recover? We don’t know.
The science shows the vaccines are effective. The rest is noise and a show. Does getting the vaccine guarantee you won’t die from COVID? No, but it greatly improves your chances.
What has science given us?
We must not lose sight of the facts. Life expectance has increase over the last century. This is because of improved economic conditions. But it is also because of improved health care. We now survive many health conditions we didn’t in the past. Science has taught us to treat disease.
Has every tested procedure worked. Of course not. But science learns from failure. That is why a new vaccine is tested before it is released. That is why Kamala Harris said she would not take a vaccine because it was approved by Donald Trump. But she would if science recommended it.
Science now says get the shot.
So get the facts.
Not from the corner shyster or politician.
Talk to your doctor and when your doctor recommends the vaccine. Roll up your sleeve. Turn your head away if it helps. Get the shot. Twice for the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. It saves lives. Yours might be one of them.
