Christmas Tree Day
I put up my tree about a week ago, but have yet to decorate it. So today was tree decorating day. My live in friend provided a new star for tree topper. She also provided a false base which looks like a basket. Both were great additions.
Lights, Balls, and Candy Canes.
Added the lights. I have no shortage of lights. Last year one string which ended on the bottom was predominantly blue. It made for a wierd lighting scheme. I was determined not to make the same mistake this year. So the first string went up and over instead of round and round. Three strings of lights later and the lights were done.
For those who know my decorations, know I’ve bought numerous hand blown balls from a shop in Maine. These bulbs dominate my tree. My goal is to some day have enough of these hand made balls to use just lights and these balls. With candy canes.
To Tinsel or to Not Tinsel.
I finished with candy canes. As a youth I remember using tinsel. The reflection off tinsel would provide a shimmery glow. It also made a mess. The question with tinsel was single strands or globs. Both provided the desired result, globs required less work.
Over the years tinsel has gone out of favor. I no longer use tinsel.
The picture for this post.
Provides the results this year. Merry Christmas, and happy and healthy holiday season to all.
