Some thoughts about the world we live in…
I want my son to be gainfully employed, healthy, happy and wise. He should be comfortable in his own skin. Today should be better than yesterday with promise that tomorrow will be better still. Today’s world, the one created by the baby boomers, that is just not the case.
In our lifetime, man has travelled to the moon, created computers, so most people now have one in their home, developed medicines to treat many diseases. We now have cell phones so we are connected to our world wherever we go. The cell phones are more powerful computers, provide access to more information, then the computers used at the time of our moon missions. But yet for all our advances, we have not yet learned to one people.
Robert Frost once wrote the “good fences make good neighbors” the poem does not support that statement. I’d like the world to become a place where people understand that good fences make lousy neighborhoods. It is time we all made a concerted effort to know our neighbors better.
Coronavirus
My hope is that the coronavirus is a temporary event. That said the next pandemic is waiting to occur.
Black lives matter
Yes, black lives matter. And yes we have found ways to limit opportunity for many minorities over the years. We must not let the protests happening today go unnoticed or the need for change to go unanswered.
There is a reason to emphasize black lives matter and to not state the obvious, all lives matter. That reason is that to state the obvious, switches the focus from the wrongs being perpetrated against our minorities. The white mob that destroyed the Tulsa Greenwood neighborhood was not an isolated case. The KKK and other white supremist continues to threaten the freedoms of minorities. This must stop.
We must find a way to trust each other.
