COVID-19 Safety Limits
Found this website on Smartnews and thought it was worth sharing.
https://indoor-covid-safety.herokuapp.com/ This is a website developed by the members of the mathematics department at MIT. It provides the user with the ability to enter parameters such as:
- Room dimensions,
- Humidity
- Mask Usage
And calculates how long one is safe in the room if one person has COVID-19.
The results are enlightening. Of course it is also theoretical. If you happen to be standing next to the person infected, and talking directly to them for an extended period of time. I would expect your chance of getting COVID-19 increase.
My living room
I entered the approximate dimensions of my living room. It suggests that if my cohabitant and I shared this room for 36 hours and one of us had COVID-19. The other one would probably be infected also. Of course we have made the decision that if one of us gets COVID, the other will as well.
My bigger concern is places like the supper market.
The parameters I choose for representing the supper market indicates that as long as the market is not really crowded you would not expect to get infected if you are in the market for less than an hour.
I’d suggest taking the website for a spin.
I’ll warn you that the performance is quite slow.
