We need to understand the rhetoric.
“A Unified Reich”
Trump’s social media account shares a campaign video with a headline about a ‘unified Reich’. The AP network article provides excuses on how the headline was part of a post on the Truth Social Trump campaign website. It wasn’t Trump, it was a staffer. Always an excuse, always somebody else’s fault.
Trump is never at fault.
My next question has the staffer been fired? But the truth is this is the type of media Donald Trump generates. It is not by accident it is part and parcel of who Trump is.
He wants total control even saying is elected, he would be dictator for a day. His supporters want an end to liberalism and many are willing to use violence to achieve that goal.
“Poisoning the blood of our country”
He leaves it to others to blunt and explain these comments, but he continues to amp up the rhetoric. His followers adore him for it. Lot’s of people take him literally, whether he meant it that way or not. Donald Trump knows this.
Let others explain what he really means. His supporters consider him honest. I consider him a con man and I’m not buying his snake oil or “ingesting bleach” to cure COVID.
Threats continue.
He has openly indicated he is willing to repeat January 6th should he lose. His rhetoric similar to what he said on Jan 6, 2021. Despite every thorough investigation into the election finding there was not widespread fraud in 2020, Donald Trump continues to say there was. Arizona spent millions on a partisan review of the election only to find there was no wide spread fraud. Still the claims continue.
This inability to accept reality is not acceptable in a teenager. I can’t imagine anyone voting for Donald Trump for US president because his rhetoric toward those in need is dehumanizing. This is not what I want the next generation to learn and it is not the country I imagined leaving my son.
January 6th Committee.
This was not balanced presentation or investigation. But both liberals and conservatives served on the committee. Almost without exception the witnesses were Republicans. The conclusion was clear. Donald Trump’s actions were unacceptable. It is now up to the Judicial department to proceed.
Following Donald Trump’s second impeachment Mitch McConnell indicated that Donald Trump could face legal consequences for his actions around the events of January 6th. Mitch McConnell said “Put another way, in the language of today: President Trump is still liable for everything he did while he was in office, as an ordinary citizen, unless the statute of limitations has run, still liable for everything he did while in office, didn’t get away with anything yet”
Indictments of this nature take time. It is unfortunate that the delay went into the next election cycle. It is even more unfortunate that the Republican Party has morphed into the party of Donald Trump. Because these indictments are not about partisanship, they are about the law. And without the rule of law we can not maintain our democracy.
Donald Trump is a Bully
Plain and simple. He vilifies those who disagree. Threats are his main tool and many in his legion of supporters are white supremacist. I consider Trump an elitist based on his rhetoric.. Donald Trump isn’t about service. He is about collecting gold.
He refuses to publish his tax returns. Why? Because the forms will lay bare the truth. How he used bankruptcy and the tax code to forgive major business mistakes such as his Atlantic City casinos and Trump Tower Chicago. He treats the IRS as his welfare safety net. All while supporting reduced benefits for those in true need.
He demands loyalty, not to the constitution but to Donald Trump above all else. I refuse to bow down to Donald Trump.
Donald Trump’s America is Not my vision of the future.
and now he is a convicted felon. Donald Trump calls the trial politically motivated. I don’t believe 12 jurors voted guilty because of politics. The prosecution proved its case and the defense was unable to provide reasonable doubt. While are legal system isn’t perfect, it is better than any authoritarian system.
He has been committing large scale mischief, by shorting those who provide him services for decades. Many of his contractors following the Atlantic City bankruptcy went out of business.
This time he got caught with his pants down. His crimes here are serious but relatively minor. His true crimes revolve around the election results in 2020. It is time for his supporters to stop for a moment a think about the man they support.
Does he truly stand for the values you want in our country? Are you more concerned with wealth and keeping others at arms length or do we want to hug our neighbors?
History in our classrooms.
Is all about learning from the past. Hitler came to power by vilifying the Jews. Trump (who has admitted he admires Hitler) vilifies immigrants. He (as did Hitler) amplifies our fears and desires control. Trump is more like Hitler than I find acceptable.
History is not about rewriting to amplify our good deeds and ignoring our failures. The laws in Florida are all about rewriting the past to suit special interest in power. They ignore the evils found in the past and amplify those who would prefer the good ole days. This will make the future better.
Well the good ole days make great stories, the truth is a lot of the change over the last 50 years has improved our nation and spread our ideals for the better. We only need look at life expectancy to prove that point.
Acceptance of others is a good thing. I’d challenge any belief to the contrary. Learning about others leads to acceptance. Divisions only make differences more scary.
So as I follow the breadcrumbs…
I must conclude that Donald Trump’s vision does not align with my ideals.
