Biden or the Other Guy
We now have a wall on our southern border.
We now have a physical barrier between us and our neighbors. Walls are easy to build and highlight yours and mine, but does little to create an ours. Any solution a wall provides is temporary. leaving the real work of building a relationship to later.
Bridges enhance exchange.
Bridges allow movement and commerce. Our economy is strong because of movement between states. Our transportation system was once the envy of the world. The Interstate Highway system moves products throughout our country. It has fueled our economy, reduce our costs. The result was a growing middle class.
International Partnerships are now the foundation of our economy.
Yes it is different, but over the years our middle class has dwindled. Our ability to cheaply manufacture product is no more. Yes, we need to manufacture product, but not the products of the past, we need to manufacture the products of today and tomorrow.
We need new ideas, not the ideas of the past.
Our path forward as a nation requires cooperation between all our diverse people. We are stronger when we work together. Pitting young against old, rich against poor, white against non-white is not a solution. It is an admission that as a country we have failed.
We must be vigiliant.
Our educational systems must open minds to possibilities and not limit minds to our past success. The past provides a basement floor and not a roof for our future.
Walls enclose us and inhibit communication. Bridges expand us. They help us see more and to develop solutions from greater knowledge.
So be careful not to worship someone whose greatest accomplishment is to build a wall. Their ideas are limiting.
What I want is a job for my son and his children. I don’t want to go back, but I want to look to the future and build an economy where future growth provides jobs. As a nation the past has been good, the future can be so much better.
