Proud Boys
In an article found in Newsweek, see https://www.newsweek.com/proud-boys-trump-civil-war-qanon-1538208 starts with “A video has emerged of a Proud Boys supporter warning that there will be a “civil war” if Donald Trump does not get re-elected in November and advises people to stock up on guns.” This is scary stuff.
In the debate, Trump’s statement to the Proud Boys was “stand down, stand by. The events in Michigan this last week, make such statements as no longer acceptable. The evidence is overwhelming. Donald Trump whether intentional or as a means to election has emboldened far-right groups where they see now as a time to act. The time between the election of Joe Biden and the January inauguration will be chaos unless Donald Trump is forced to concede.
I no longer feel that waiting for January for Donald Trump to step down is an option, unless he makes a firm statement that he does not support the simmering potential violence. He is after all the law-in-order candidate.
Trump’s Comments on Michigan
So far he and Bill Barr’s comments on the events in Michigan have been unacceptable. The only appropriate response to the attempted coup in Michigan is unconditional condemnation of the conspirators. Anything less will excite more violence against those who disagree with Donald Trump.
In the United States everyone has the right to disagree. That is the strength of our democracy. No one has the right harm those who disagree with them. Violence is never the answer.
The Difference Between Biden and Trump
Joe Biden has denounce all forms of violence including vandalism and looting associated during riots. On the other hand, Donald Trump always turns the conversation to ANTIFA. A collection of non-organized groups.
The condemnation of the Michigan coup attempt was tepid at best. I find this a truly scary time to be an American.
Are we on the the brink of civil war…
Trump’s statement is an menacing “stand by.” How can anyone justify this stance?
