And the tone has changed
At least from the White House
Our current president has not ranted about being wronged. Even with all the effort his predecessor made to make Joe Biden’s job more difficult. He has just started to work. He has an agenda and a plan. The plan is to take things one at a time and then proceed to the next step.
Joe Biden doesn’t consider everything easy. He understands that the job of the President is hard. He needs to work at it. His administration is taking things that are doable and proceeding.
No one has been fired by tweet…
A common occurrence for his predecessor. We don’t wake up each morning reading about a tweet storm belittling some opponent. The tone of the discussion is much more civil.
I’m disappointed that Biden has not reached out to Mitch McConnell at least on at a social level. Discussion between republicans and democrats must begin if progress is to be made. Mitch McConnell is the obvious choice for handing out an olive branch. While I’m not saying Biden should capitulate to McConnell’s wishes, I am saying the conversation should have occurred sooner.
The action on the pandemic is welcome.
A plan is in place to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus. The pillar of that plan is vaccinations. Of course the republicans don’t feel vaccinations are required. The economy is too important, and business must proceed at all cost. The democrats and Joe Biden are saying let’s be smart about this.
The calm provided by moving to a science based briefings is such a contrast. Now the republicans find it necessary to attack the scientist. Let’s be clear. Scientists are human. They learn by making mistakes just like everyone else. Oh, wait. Republicans need a belt with a two by four before they learn. Even then long after it is obvious they hold to their core believes that they are endowed by the truth by their maker.
How wonderful to be right just because I say so.
Science has always been about learning.
It is medical advances such as penicillin, other antibiotics, improved diet, and exercise which have increased our life expectancy. All driven by the scientific method. Republicans want to take credit for the advances, but not recognize that it required mistakes to improve process and living. To think that we know all the answers is folly.
The science of today will create the jobs of the future. To think otherwise will turn us into a third world country. We have lost 4 years to Joe Biden’s predecessor. Let’s not hold back any more. Our economy can not be built on the jobs of the past and the wealth of the few. It must be supported by jobs for everyone.
The situation at the border is a crisis
One which existed before Joe Biden’s predecessor took office. He choose not to take any action but to say stop. Joe Biden has a problem. He is looking at solutions which protect the United States but also deal with the human condition with compassion. Immigration has been a problem for a long time. To expect an immediate solution is unrealistic.
To expect a wall is the solution is nonsense. It just leaves the details to someone else. Another problem left undone by Joe Biden’s predecessor. Let’s hope a real discussion begins, where the realities of the problem are discussed by open minds.
So I stopped blogging for a while.
I just didn’t need to say anything. It was a time to observe and wonder. While I will start blogging again, I’m not certain how often.
