No Senate Trial, Now

Mitch McConnell Delays until after inauguration.

On Monday or shortly after the House of Representatives will in all likelyhood vote on articles of Impeachment. At that time Donald Trump will be the first president impeached on two separate occasions. This unto itself is a partisan act.

Mitch McConnell has a duty as speaker of the Senate, at least until inauguration to hold a trial. The charges this time are much more serious and are unambiguous. Donald Trump is a traitor to the United States of America. He directed an assault on the US Capital while Congress was in session. There is no denying these facts.

According to https://www.businessinsider.com/mcconnell-says-impeachment-trial-wont-happen-before-inauguration-2021-1 says it is unlikely to happen until after the inauguration on January 20, 2021. I just don’t understand why?

Procedure that allows a president remain in office after committing treason is just plain wrong. What Mitch McConnell is saying is after committing treason, due process to remove him from office will take time. After the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. The very next day Congress declared war on Japan.

They did not wait.

January 6, 2020 is no less alarming.

This was an attack on our country and on our democracy. Procedure needs to be followed, but Mitch McConnell impeachment must occur without delay. What is at stake is no less important then the response to the attack on Pearl Harbor.

The Senate needs to convene to remove Donald Trump not on January 21, 2021 at which time the trial is mute. But the day the House passes articles of impeachment. It is as important as the extended proceeding in the early morning of January 7, 2021 to confirm the election of Joe Biden as next president of the United States.

This Republican Senate changed the rules so Donald Trump’s appointees were veto proof. We now have the judiciary conservatives have sought for generations. I do not approve, but you acted when it served you purposes.

You obstructed Merrick Garland’s appointment the Supreme Court. So you have delayed when it served you purpose.

This time is different. The Senate is being asked to act on articles of impeachment. The only people it serves to delay are your Republican senators who don’t want to be put on the record. The country is not served by delay. Delay leaves a traitor in the highest executive office in our land. It fuels the divisions in this country.
